Meet the Sign Language Interpreter
Angela Core
Graduating from the Sign Language Interpreter Program at Sheridan College in 1989, Angela worked as a freelance and educational interpreter in New Brunswick before moving back to Ontario to work briefly at the Ernest C. Drury School for the Deaf. Angela settled in London, Ontario in 1995 and joined the staff at The Canadian Hearing Society (CHS) a year later. Over her 20 years as a community interpreter for CHS, she developed an interest in mental health interpreting, attending specialized mental health training for sign language interpreters in Alabama in 2012 and again in 2018.
Angela joined King’s University College at Western University in 2016 to work as a designated sign language interpreter for faculty. Angela provides support with various research projects conducted by faculty and students in the field of psychology and deafness. In addition, she provides interpreting access for many events to the greater King’s community
Angela is on the board of the King’s Centre of Deaf Education & Accessibility Forum – CDEAF.
